The NC annual report and tax day share April 15. They are not the same deadline.

LLC annual reports are due April 15 under G.S. 57D-2-24; calendar-year corporations owe theirs the same day under G.S. 55-16-22. Extending your tax return does not extend either report.

Heads up: we are an independent company that prepares and submits North Carolina filings for owners. We are not the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State and we do not give legal advice. Every state and county charge passes through at the exact amount billed, and anyone can file directly with the Business Registration Division for no service fee.

Different law, different office

Tax deadlines come from the IRS and NCDOR. The annual report deadline comes from the entity statutes and is enforced by the Secretary of State.

What happens if you miss it

File early

The report can be filed before the due date. File in February or March and the April crunch is only about taxes.
